Hi! My name is Sarit Butnaro, I am a licensed Art Therapist
You may ask, why Art Therapy? Art can be viewed as a path to the unconscious. The art process offers verbal and non-verbal ways of representing feelings, turmoil and difficulties. It allows people options in conveying emotions. Through art, people may focus on what is troubling them and gain direction. Particularly for children, art is an effective therapeutic choice because it is a visual language and a developmentally appropriate form of communication, especially for young children who may not have the ability to express themselves with words or have difficulty doing so. Art expression is a way of knowing the world around them and of communicating and exploring their inner world of feelings and perceptions
My clinic is located in Tel Aviv (near Ichilov Hospital). English is my mother tongue (I was raised in NY in an Israeli household) and am fluent in both languages. I am a Lesley University graduate and have much experience working with children of all ages, mainly in the special and regular education systems in Israel. I've worked with New Olim, children from Gush Katif, children with physical disabilities, and children with adjustment, behavioral and developmental disorders. I also spent a great deal of time working in a pediatric hospital (helping children and their families cope with the trauma of surgery, preparation for surgery, hospitalization and rehabilitation).
